About Us

Location and Size

Sekyere Central District Assembly is among the 43 Administrative Districts in the Ashanti Region. The District was curved out of the Sekyere West District Assembly now Mampong Municipal in 2007 by Legislative Instrument (L.I. 1841) The District has 27 Electoral Areas with four (4) Town council and three (3) Area Councils with 157 communities. The District Assembly has 41 Assembly Members made up of 27 elected and 13 appointed members and 1 member of parliament The District has one (1) Constituency (Nsuta-Kwamang-Beposo) and therefore one (1) Member of Parliament The District is located within longitudes 0.05 degrees and 1.30 degrees west and latitudes 6.55 degrees and 7.30 degrees north, It shares boundaries with five districts: Mampong Municipal, Ejura-Sekyedumase Municipal, Atebubu Amanteng Municipal, Sekyere Kumawu District and Sekyere Afram Plains District. The District covers a total land area of about 1,631 square kilometres, representing approximately 6.69 percent of the region’s total surface area making it the third (3rd) largest District in the region.

Functions

*Formulate and execute plans, programmes and strategies for the effective mobilization of the resources necessary for the overall development of the District *Promote and support productive activity and social development in the District and remove any obstacles to initiative and development *Initiate programmes for the development of basic infrastructure and provide works and services in the District *Be responsible for the development, improvement and management of human settlements and the environment in the District *In co-operation with the appropriate national and local security agencies, be responsible for the maintenance of security and public safety in the District

Objectives

*Achieve universal health coverage, including financial risk protection, access to quality health-care service *Reduce the proportion of men, women and children living in poverty *Reduce vulnerability to climate-related events and disaster *Achieve access to adequate and equitable Sanitation and hygiene *Increase investment to enhance agricultural productive capacity 6. Substantially increase number of youth and adult who have relevant skill *Devise and implement policies to promote sustainable tourism *ncrease inclusive and equitable access to education at all levels

The Sekyere Central District Assembly Exist to Improve Upon the Standard of Living of the People through the Provision of Basic Socio-Economic Infrastructure in Partnership with all Stakeholders.
