As part of ongoing community engagements, Hon. Samuel Somuah, the District Chief Executive (DCE), together with the Hon. Presiding Member and Management Members of the District Assembly, met with Nananom and residents of Atonsu and Abordease on Thursday, 7th May 2026.
At the start of the engagement, the District Coordinating Director, Mr. Daniel Owusu, sensitised community members on the role of the Assembly and the importance of citizen participation in development. He stressed the need for prompt payment of levies to boost Internally Generated Funds (IGF) for effective project execution.
Key concerns raised by Nananom and residents:
· Construction of town roads
· Completion of the Nsuta–Kwamang Road
· Completion of the stalled GNPC-funded AstroTurf football pitch
· Construction of storm drains
· Support for removal of unauthorised temporary structures along community roads
· Extension of electricity to new sites and distribution of meters
· Full-fare termination of Kumasi–Atonsu trips at Nsuta by GPRTU drivers, with no partial refund for passengers continuing to Atonsu or Kwamang
· Destruction of crops by stray animals
· Completion of the mechanised borehole at Enteho
In his address, Hon. Somuah thanked residents for their cooperation and reaffirmed his commitment to completing all stalled projects and delivering impactful development within his tenure. He assured them that all registered concerns would be addressed as soon as practicable.
The Hon. DCE also commended the community for their self-aid efforts in building an ultra-modern market for Atonsu and assured them of the District Assembly's full support to ensure the project's completion.
The engagement concluded with a collective, non-partisan commitment by all parties to work together for the progress of the District and its citizens.
